Q3 APMA Members’ Meeting

Research, tracking, training, payments and events.

These were the main topics up for discussion as more than 50 people joined us for a bumper update from the Affiliate and Partner Marketing Association last week.

APMA Founder, Kevin Edwards, provided a run-through of the current roadmap with news of a series of new tracking initiatives focused on technical excellence in the channel.

These include:

  • Agony Aunt: Format TBC; Opportunity to ask technical or tracking questions.
  • What on earth is server-to-server tracking?
  • Timeline of regulation and cookie policies.
  • How does discount code tracking work? Feedback from networks and third-party member companies on solutions they have.
  • ICO outreach: Attempt to build an ongoing relationship.
  • CMPs and affiliate types: Setting up tracking based on different affiliate categories.
  • App Tracking: How app tracking works in the affiliate channel?
  • Validations, declines rates: Trend data over time.
  • What comes next?: What does a post-cookie world look like?

Expect to see these launch over the coming months.

To help provide some foundational knowledge in the meeting, Steve Brown from Moonpull gave the audience a tracking 101 explainer.

Next up, Elaine Mercer teased the upcoming entry-level training which will be rolled out before the end of year. Free for member companies, non-members will have access to a paid version in 2025.

Payments and the importance of cashflow in the industry was flagged in an upcoming project, which will provide everyone with clarity on terminology, payment times and the different processes networks and platforms follow.

Currently in the data collection phase, this work will fall within the ‘Standards and Best Practice’ remit of the APMA. Expect this release in the next couple of months.

Research has been a running theme across the year, with a real need for insights, stats and trend data. The upcoming launch of ‘State of the Nation: Affiliate and Partner Marketing in 2024’, was teased at the meeting, with a handful of insights (in the slide deck) being released.

Free tickets are still available to attend on 9th October in central London. You can read the details of the research launch event here.

Finally, Kevin and Elaine ran through some upcoming affiliate marketing events, showcased the new website, complete with our affiliate marketing jobs’ board, and announced a Christmas(ish) charity quiz, available for anyone to attend.
