The Affiliate and Partner Marketing Association has published a new guide to downloadable software and browser extensions in the affiliate and partner marketing channel.
Over the past 15 years, these technologies have become a small but established part of the UK industry.
The guide explains how they emerged and the considerations affiliate networks gave to how they should be assimilated within the wider industry. It explores the rationale behind the additional checks and balances put in place.
It also explains the concept of cookie hierarchies and why they are important in deciding who is credited for a sale.
Alongside a TL:DR one pager and a more in-depth explainer, the guide includes a useful matrix featuring ten affiliate networks and platforms where they explain what technology they have in place, how it works and who it applies to.
Please note, the matrix is based on network self-reporting. No independent auditing of their activity has been carried out to verify the data and therefore the APMA cannot give assurances that the information submitted reflects click and sales’ paths and subsequent attribution.
